You can power the energy acceptor with any RF source, either directly or with a cable. I''ve not seen any that wouldn''t attach but maybe they are out there. The key is not trying to connect RF sources to AE-only blocks because that does not work. Only AE2 fiber and cables (and I think the EnderIO ME conduit) will transmit AE power.
